The 2018 IWWF World Barefoot Water Ski Championships are officially underway in Napanee, Ontario, Canada as barefoot water skiers from 12 countries have gathered at Dream Lake to make their own barefoot dreams come true.
Lake hosts Dwight and Michelle Williams have spent years creating a barefoot paradise in the lush farmland of Ontario— and on Saturday night, they were in the front row to watch the Opening Ceremonies of the IWWF Barefoot Worlds.
Each team was introduced individually… from the Belgium Team of just Celine Vrancx to newcomers of China and the large American Contingent. Then the New Zealand Team laid down a challenge with a strong performance of the Traditional Haka.
The Games were officially opened by IWWF World Barefoot Council President Geoff Blaauw who asked for a moment of the silence for three incredible barefooters who lost their lives since the 2016 IWWF World Championships: Pete Taylor (Australia) Mike Salber (USA) and Ed Finley (USA).
