The sun is out, the sky is blue and the shimmering turquoise waters provide a warm welcome to the invited riders and officials for the IWWF Jordan Ayla Cable Wakeboard World Cup 2018.

The 48th stop in the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation’s (IWWF) World Cup Series is hosted by the Ayla Cable Wakeboard Park, at the historical city of Aqaba, Jordan.

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a bridge between Asia, Africa and Europe, with fittingly some 56 riders from 36 countries converging on Aqaba for the event.

The event is organised by the IWWF in conjunction with the Ayla Oasis Development Company, under the patronage of his Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Al-Hussein, President of The Jordan Olympic Committee.

At the opening ceremony on Wednesday evening, 9th March 2018, riders and officials were welcomed by His Excellency Nasser Al Shreidi, the Chief Commissioner of Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Chris White, Director of Operations Ayla and the IWWF President, Jose Antonio Perez Priego.

The opening ceremony concluded with traditional Jordanian dancing in which everyone joined in.

Official practice continues on Thursday, 10th May 2018, with group stages commencing on Friday. The event concludes on Saturday, 12th May 2018, with the men’s and women’s semi-finals, finals and award ceremonies.
